Solar energy in low-income housing presented at an international event

The innovative involvement of Solar Photovoltaic System in affordable housing developed by the Government of Paraiba will be presented at the biggest event on urban management and sustainability in Latin America – the Smart City Business America Congress & Expo (SCBAC & E) which this year will be held in Brazil, 28 30 March in Curitiba, Parana.

This is the first time that the State Government, through the State Company of Paraiba Popular Housing (Cehap), participates in the event. The president of the agency, Emilia Correia Lima, was invited to present the innovation of Solar Photovoltaic System in affordable housing, an experience that has earned the State Merit Seal Award 2015. “Being in Congress could mean new ideas, new perspectives and possibilities, besides showing to all that Paraíba is able to achieve goals and indexes bigger and better, “said Emilia.

The use of photovoltaic solar energy began as a pilot project from Cehap that was implanted in popular homes in the Mangabeira neighbourhood in the capital. As a result, households have managed up to 70% reduction in the average power consumption
