Brazil Visa Information

In Brazil, visas are not required for nationals of several countries who wish to visit for tourism or for business purposes excluding employment. The United Kingdom falls into this category and its citizens can travel to and remain in Brazil for a period of up to 90 days without holding a visa provided that they do not take on employment of any kind.

Types of Visa for Brazil

Brazilian Tourist Visa
In Brazil, tourist visas are granted for a maximum duration of ninety days and are valid for multiple entries to Brazil during the time. The length of stay can be extended at the discretion of the Brazilian Immigration Authorities but not more than 180 days in any twelve-month period. Tourist visas are intended for those who wish to visit Brazil for a holiday and do not permit their holder to work.

Brazilian Business Visa
Like a tourist visa, Brazilian business visas are granted for a maximum period of ninety days. A Business visa for Brazil is a strictly temporary visa service and does not permit its holder to engage in employment whether paid or unpaid. However, business visas do cover a range of business activities including attending meetings and discussions.

Short stay visas do not count toward long-term settlement in Brazil and visa holders will be obliged to return to their country of residence when the visa expires. No provision is made for the spouse, common law partner, civil partner and/or dependent children of the applicant to accompany them to Brazil and all individuals wishing to travel to Brazil will need to apply for a visa individually.

Processing Times and Fees
Visa and immigration law are subject to change at short notice and as such, processing times and fees for Brazilian visas may vary. The type of visa being applied for and the nationality of the applicant may also impact upon the likely fees and processing times.
