R$6m invested into 109 affordable housing in Paraiba

Paraiba State Government have invested R$ 6 million into the Minha Casa Minha Vida project which will allow the delivery of 109 residential housing units within Vista da Serra II, Residencial Virgílio Trindade located in Patos Paraiba.

On the 28th November 2014, the State Company of Paraiba Popular Housing (CEHAP) announced the 109 randomly selected families that will be rehoused into the 36m² units, each obeying a minimum specification of two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and a laundry area.

The new development is equipped with a complete infrastructure network of water supply, electricity, sanitation and paving cobblestones on every street.

The residents chosen have undergone a rigorous selection process by the Caixa Econômica Federal meaning that in order to qualify the families could not exceed an income of R$ 1,600.00, have never previously owned a property and currently live in an area that is unsafe or unhealthy etc.

The Paraiba Governor Ricardo Coutinho praised the importance of housing families stating that his government have delivered 14,800 homes with 10,000 more under construction. During his two terms as governor, approximately 35,000 homes are to be delivered as part of affordable housing in Paraiba.

All families will pay a minimum percentage of their house which is to be delivered the beginning of next year.
